Allee Bleue was established in 1690 by the free burger, Pieter Andersen, by special decree of Simon van der Stel under the name "Mere Rust". The original Cape wine farm takes its 315-year old history into the future with a new name and concept. Allee Bleue - translated from French, "Avenue of Blue" refers to the Eucalyptus-lined entrance road to the estate, and also represents the owners' personal life philosophy - an appreciation for the grandeur found naturally upon our Blue Planet.
Under this name exists the Allee Bleue Farms, comprising the existing wine, fruit and herb farming operations. Allee Bleue Estate includes the urbane restaurant - Cafe Allee Bleue - and a unique multipurpose conference- and event centre where weddings are held.
Today Allee Bleue is owned by the German family, Dauphin, who have Huguenot-roots and are world renowned for their state-of-the-art office furniture.
Having acquired the property in 1999, the Dauphin Family have taken the estate boldly into the new millenium where the past and future meet harmoniously.
Allee Bleue Estate welcomes you to experience a fusion of sensitively restored heritage and contemporary luxury - a place where yesterday and tomorrow meet.
