Sarah and Nino
Sarah and Nino[three_fifth] [dropcap color=”rosy”]S[/dropcap]now, mountains, candles, champagne and covert photographers. These are the keys to the most romantic proposal!
My fiancee Nino and I recently got engaged (on Christmas eve!!!) in the snow in beautiful Austria!
On our long planned trip to visit overseas family and explore our absolute love of white Christmas’ and adrenaline rushes of hurtling down the seemingly endless slopes on ski’s, my high school sweetheart, and boyfriend of 3 years decided to pop the question!
At the end of a beautiful day on the slopes, on our last run of the day, we made a planned stops at our favorite restaurant on the way down, I was told to take off my ski’s and that we would be having a special Christmas dinner. Graciously he knows me well enough to encourage me to wear a beanie (to avoid the helmet hair) and have a nail day the day before (encouraged by his sister who was on holiday with us)…
We walked in towards the restaurant, to the waitresses hanging out the windows taking pictures, and the guests eating there, giving us a standing ovation, all because (I thought), Nino was making such a romantic dinner effort for Christmas eve!
After nearly walking past the table filled with candles spelling “I love you”, not thinking they were for me, and a hairline miss of being decapitated by the champagne cork, we moved on to snuggle on a fur lined bench, out in the snow, with a gorgeous landscape and background of colourful ski’s and snowboards, Nino suddenly dropped down to one knee, completely surprising me, as I had no idea this was on the cards, not yet at least!!!
I immediately welled up and had to hide my face in my scarf momentarily, trying to gather myself before I became a blubbering mess! – totally didn’t work…
Looking into his gorgeous blue eyes, surrounded by my favorite place in the world, I knew it was perfect, we were perfect!
He asked me to do him the honour of being his wife, and I had to nod for a few moments before I could get the words out – “Yes of course!” I shouted, followed by the cheers of all the patrons, who could have ruined it in the first place. Hehe!
He then pointed our his sister and her husband who were hiding behind the trees with long lenses, capturing the moment.
The ring was perfect, the setting was perfect, and most importantly, the man is perfect!
My snowwy, magical, Christmas wish…
Hope this is as special for you to read as it was for me to experience!
