Now that you are engaged to the man of your dreams the time has come to start planning your wedding. Even if you have dreamt of this day and imagined down to the last detail how your wedding is going to look one day, this is now reality. Decisions have to be made and stuck to. Deposits have to be paid and budgets adhered to.
The most important decision that has to be made is which venue to choose. This will dictate to a large extent, your colour scheme, your style of dress and what sort of decor you will have.
In South Africa we are blessed with the most beautiful winelands, unmatched anywhere else in the world. And what makes them even more special is that so many of them operate as wineland wedding venues. From the traditional Cape Dutch architecture of the more historic wine farms to the ultra modern there is something for most brides. Breathtaking scenery over the mountains of the Western Cape is a feature of many of these venues. The charming town of Stellenbosch with its traditional white buildings and streets lined with oak trees is central to this region of the winelands.
We wanted to tell you a little bit more about a wedding venue in the winelands called Clouds Estate. This is the perfect wedding venue for couples looking for something modern in the winelands. On a recent visit to Stellenbosch we were lucky enough to visit Clouds Estate which is situated high up on the Helshoogte Pass between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. What a setting! Beautiful views over the mountains towards Franschhoek and nestled in vineyards, it is absolutely idyllic.
Recently bought by a Dutch couple and completely renovated, Clouds will excite you with a completely different take on the traditional expectation of a wineland venue. Ultra modern furnishings and the most stunning light fittings you are likely to see outside of Europe all combine to make Clouds a very special place indeed. All their furnishings are designer pieces imported from Europe. A large horse sculpture in the guest area as well as sculptures on the lawn add a quirky touch. They have the most beautiful South African art on display and if you particularly fancy a piece of sculpture or a painting you are free to buy it.
The wedding reception room is very well designed with views over the valley and you can have your ceremony either on the deck or in the garden. As they say on their website “Between the drama of Simonsberg Mountain and the whimsy of our vineyards, your wedding photographer will be spoilt for choice.”
There is luxurious accommodation for everyone either in the guesthouse or the self catering cottages on their farm. It is a 5 star wedding venue which is surely a must consider when you are looking for your wineland venue in Stellenbosch.
