About Us
Take a step back in time into the land of the pioneers of early Natal and experience the peace and tranquility offered on an original sugar estate. The estate was established nearly a century ago by it’s founders Douglas Liege and Zillah Hulett. After a trip to Ireland they decided to name the estate “Collisheen” in memory of a town they had visited and enjoyed. Through the years they ran Collisheen as a cattle farm, dairy, timber plantation and of course a sugar estate. The next generation, Neil and Morag Hulett, who took over the farming operation after Douglas’ untimely death, set and broke numerous world records in their quest to successfully breed and raise the previously very endangered cheetah in captivity.
Set amongst magnificent old trees the estate offers a private function facility that is exclusively yours for your special day. Panoramic views of undulating sugar fields are complemented by the warm “family” hospitality of the staff at the estate.
Thirty minutes from central Durban and an arms length from Ballito, Collisheen offers a perfect venue for conferences, meetings and corporate training.
Your Wedding
Collisheen offers a perfect wedding venue with a bridal salon, chapel, full reception facilities, picturesque gardens, water feature, and extensive parking.
Over the last 8 years, Collisheen Estate has earned, through top class service and a high level of professionalism, an outstanding reputation as a wedding and functions venue. Our venue facilities are very flexible so please feel free to ask us should you have any special requests.
Collisheen now offers 2 perfect wedding venues, the original Main Venue (The Boma) and our new B&B Venue (Orchid House).
The Boma venue is complete with a bridal salon, chapel, full reception facilities, picturesque gardens, water feature, and extensive parking.
The Chapel at The Boma can seat 100 people inside and because of the open nature of the construction, can accommodate plenty more around the outside. Should the weather get bad, blinds will be rolled down for protection.
Our Orchid House venue can accommodate functions for 20 to 90 guests. As an optional extra, a gazebo can be erected if inclement weather is expected.
The Orchid House venue offers one of the B&B rooms as a Bridal Salon, an outside Gazebo wedding service option, even more picturesque gardens, reception facilities and plenty of parking.

Hi Amanda, I would like to thank you for the efforts you put into making this wedding such a huge success. I know it is what you guys do, but handling 4 weddings in 4 days over Easter, with this one on Day 3, was a brilliant effort. The venue surpassed all our expectations, the day was simply as perfect as could be. It started off with brilliant weather, and everything produced by you and your Collisheen team was just excellent. The chapel, the hall, everything was great. The supper was excellent and we had many compliments from guests, and the service from staff serving, as well as bar staff was also top class. We would strongly recommend Collisheen as a venue to anybody. There is honestly not a single issue which I would have changed or could complain about, so well done to you and your team !
