Beach Venues – - De Hoop
About Us
Situated just three hours drive from Cape Town, the 36,000 hectares of De Hoop conservation area forms part of a World Heritage Site characterised by rich biodiversity and rare species of fynbos that lead down to an unspoilt coastline. Our Marine Reserve offers some of the best whale viewing in the world, with some 40% of the global Southern Right Whale population coming to the bay each year to breed.
“Popular literature calls De Hoop Nature Reserve ‘the jewel of the Western Cape’. For rare, endangered and spectacular fauna and flora, there are few places to compare with it in the entire country.” Getaway Magazine
The De Hoop Reserve is situated just three hours’ drive from Cape Town on the world renowned Garden and Whale Routes - an ideal stop over en route from the Cape Winelands to Plettenberg Bay. It is in the Overberg region near the southern tip of Africa and can be approached from either Bredasdorp or Swellendam.
