About Us

Jembisa Lodge is a unique and spectacular destination for an intimate bush wedding. Situated within a private 3000 hectare, malaria free game reserve in the heart of the beautiful Waterberg Biosphere, approximately 3 hours north of Johannesburg.

Jembisa is a superb malaria free safari destination, with great comfort, delicious food and a variety of wildlife activities. Only one wedding party, or group of guests are accommodated at any one time, allowing exclusive use of the lodge and reserve, as well as giving complete flexibility to suit individual needs.

Your Wedding

The magnificent deck which overlooks the Palala River, is where you can exchange your wedding vows amongst your closest friends and family. Alternatively, for a remote bush setting, chairs are set up under some African Acacia trees for the wedding party, who are often visited by curious 4 legged guests eager to be part of the celebration.

As every wedding is such a personal experience we will liaise closely with you to meet your individual needs and requirements. We are able to host wedding receptions for up to 50 guests, and can arrange and provide all ingredients necessary for an exceptional and memorable wedding day. With regards to your additional guests, over and above the 14 that can be accommodated at the Lodge, there are 3 rustic self-catering camps within the Palala River Reserve. In total the Palala River Cottages can accommodate a total of 22 extra guests. Thereafter there are various B&B’s in the Vaalwater area for the balance of your guests.

The lodge is built from local stone and thatch with large, spacious rooms decorated with natural materials in an Afro-colonial style. Having been a family home in the past, Jembisa also benefits from some extras not usually found at safari lodges; these include a library, reading room, children’s games room and a floodlit tennis court. “Our home” ….now “your home”, is the perfect venue for a small intimate wedding offering 5 star service and accommodation for up to 14 people. There are 5 luxury en-suite bedrooms, 3 with private balconies and a 4 sleeper bunk room, ideal for the little wedding people! All bathrooms have a shower and a bath. Cots are available for infants.

Accommodation

All accommodation at Jembisa is extremely comfortable and care has been taken to ensure that everything is available to meet your needs. There are five luxury en-suite bedrooms, three with private balconies plus a children’s bunkroom.

Arrangements are flexible to suit each parties needs. Bunk beds and cots for children are available. All bathrooms have both a shower and a bath.
