Kichwa Tembo is situated at the foot of the Oloololo Escarpment on the western border of the Masai Mara Reserve in southwestern Kenya. Meaning ‘Head of the Elephant’ in KiSwahili, Kichwa Tembo is located on a private concession leased from Maasai landlords in the exclusive western Mara – much less crowded than the eastern part of the Reserve. In addition to an excellent year-round concentration of animals, Kichwa Tembo lies directly in the path of Africa’s spectacular Great Migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti, Tanzania, to the Masai Mara in Kenya. This is indeed nature at her most theatrical, offering you an African wildlife experience unsurpassed in the world.

		Your Wedding at Kichwa Tembo
		Wedding couples can enjoy the magical view of the game-filled plains from their luxurious tented suite while being pampered by their personal butler or, if preferred, a private game-drive vehicle can be arranged for an exclusive game-viewing experience. Wedding couples are treated to private dining on the veranda, around the pool illuminated with flares, or on the edge of the plains, with romantic turndowns welcoming them on return to their elegant wedding suite.  Your Wedding Ceremony at Kichwa Tembo  At Kichwa Tembo, you have the choice of the following breathtaking locations for your wedding ceremony: Edge of the Great Rift Valley This theatrical venue - the actual setting of the famous Out of Africa final scene, overlooking the vast expanses of the Masai Mara below - provides the most dramatic of venues for the romantic exchange of a couple's vows. Set atop the Oloololo Escarpment, at the edge of The Great Rift Valley, at the perfect time of day... just before the sun sets over this ancient scene. An African Bush Setting For nature-lovers who wish to marry close to nature, the open spaces of the untamed African bushveld provide and ideal and unique setting. Before sunset, guests and Groom await the Bride at a beautiful bush clearing, before their vows are blessed by a Christian Priest. The Elegant Camp Gardens Conveniently, at any preferred time, a wedding ceremony in the lush wide open spaces that the Camp's gardens afford, guarantees a lovely and tranquil setting for your special day. Your Wedding Banquet at Kichwa Tembo The Garden Alfresco lunches or romantic candlelit dinners can be served in the tranquil and comfortable surrounds of the Camp's gardens. Camp's Dining Area Relax in the candlelit bar in the evening before enjoying delicious Pan-African cuisine served in the thatched circular main dining area of the Camp. A Pan-African banquet will be prepared and served to the wedding party, in true Kenyan style. African Bush Banquets CC Africa's Bush Banquets truly are in a class of their own, with fully adorned dining tables, garlanded with linen and soft lighting. These spectacular alfresco dining affairs, so close to the sounds and smells of the African bush, create unforgettable wedding banquets with a difference. Please note: Wedding ceremony and banquet settings are subject to weather and can only be confirmed on the day. An Intimate Wedding An intimate wedding comprised of 2 to 6 Guests can be accommodated in 1 to 3 Tented Suites at either Bateleur Camp at Kichwa Tembo or Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp. A Classic Wedding A classic wedding of 18 Guests can be accommodated in 9 Tented Suites - affording the wedding party the sole-use of Bateleur Camp at Kichwa Tembo. 18-80 Guests can be hosted in 9 to 40 Tented Suites at Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp. The 49 Tented Suites of both Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp and Bateleur Camp at Kichwa Tembo will accommodate 98 Guests perfectly.
