About Us

Nestled in the secluded valley under the Sterkfontein Caves, lies our beautiful Venue. When driving through our guarding Iceberg Roses you look down onto rolling landscaped gardens with Water fountains that tower high into the sky. Archways open the gates into paradise, which holds a variety of settings for the photographs you will show forever. The river that meanders under big old trees and majestic cliffs form the backdrop to what seems to be the closest you’ll ever get to “Fairy Land”.

To capture this beauty all night, strategically placed lights light up the entire valley. With the reception hall’s doors flung open, you are hypnotized by the mystery of the gardens, which invite you and your loved one out for a quiet moment.
Makiti’s first Venue, the “Ballroom Venue” was built in 1996. We have always been set on service and attention to detail. One of our most appreciated promises has always been the exclusivity our clients have to their venue. No one will be allowed to even browse around when there is a function in process. This was also our main concern upon building our second Venue in 2003.

We would only build another venue if we could guarantee the same service and exclusivity that we have been offering all our clients before then. Therefore we developed the “Sunset Venue” with its Own Function Room, Chapel, Parking Area, Generator and Beautifully Landscaped Gardens dollied with a duplication of all the stunning features our initial gardens were known for.

Both Venues seat from 60 up to 400 guests (without a dance floor – depending on hall lay-out and if the veranda is incorporated.)

Your Wedding

Chapels At Makiti

WWalking through the arched wooden doors you are immediately struck by the romantic ambience created by the soft dimmed light of the fine copper chandeliers and the golden glow of the sun that brushes your cheeks through the tinted windows. The wooden pews seat up to 220 guests that await you while listening to romantic music played over the installed sound system.

 

The ringing of the Antique Brass Bell, announces that your big moment has finally arrived. As you take your first step down the 19m Merlot Red Carpeted Isle, the congregation rises to welcome you to the start of your new life. There is a beautiful podium that is installed in the front. There is also a register table on which you will sign the most important contract of your life.

The Chapel is also available to our function clients. Your photographer is welcome to set-up in the chapel for the taking of group / individual photos.

Beautiful Gardens At Makiti

After the service the couple wonder into our fairy tale gardens for their photo session. The variety of breathtaking scenes, interesting features and array of colour will give you the opportunity to have a range of unique photographs to keep as memories of this important day.

During the photo session the guests are invited to have a pre-arranged “welcoming drink” at the “Pre-reception drinks area”. These thatched areas are situated in the middle of the gardens and are surrounded by water features. The tranquil sound of running water relaxes young and old, and their chatter carries through the valley as they look down on you being photographed on swings and quaint bridges.

Catering

Makiti also has its own kitchens where we can cater according to your requirements. It is a fact that the food is the most important part of any function. The food is the first thing that all the guests will chat about when they get home. We have high standards and use only good quality products. The client can either select a plated or buffet style menu, or even combinations of the two. The contents of the menus and the style of presenting of the food can be designed around different likes, traditions and nationalities. From traditional “Boere kos” to French Cuisine, just the way the client would prefer.

Wedding Planning At Makiti

At Makiti our main aim is to be involved with as much as possible, in order to relieve you of the stress normally related with organising your big day. By controlling everything we can guarantee success.” “Peace of Mind” is priceless. At Makiti it is part of the package.

Because we want to guarantee a perfect wedding or function, we also have our own florist to assist you with all your requirements. Our golden rule is that the whole setting should be completed at least two hours before the guests are to arrive.
