Chantel & Uhlricht[dropcap color=”rosy”]I[/dropcap] will never forget the 10th of November 2012. My macho, realistic and never-described-as-romantic-by-others-(at that time)-boyfriend, Uhlricht Adendorff proposed to me at the Two Oceans Aquarium in the Waterfront Cape Town.
He planned the day perfectly and I was clueless about what was happening. We are in the market for our first home and I was thinking marriage has to wait while we get used to the bond, but my man thought differently (giggles). I thought the highlight of my day was being able to hold starfish in my hand and to pronounce the word “anemone” properly and not like Nemo, lol.
When we got to the I&J Predator Exhibit, he directed my attention to the tank and insisted we sit in the centre of the auditorium style seats. A few minutes later two divers were in the tank with something that resembles an umbrella. The divers then opened a poster(not an umbrella) with the words, “Will you marry me” in Yellow and jumbled in between “I love you” in white. I immediately looked up to the first floor then around me to see who the lucky person was. Much to my surprise, Uhlricht was there, on his knee with a box in his hand. I was beside myself. Immediately aware of all the people around me as they cheered and applauded. A staff member announced to the entire audience what has happened and then popped champagne.
Needless to say, I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing the entire day. And almost two months later when I tell the story or reminisce till get butterflies and that goofy smile comes flooding to my blushed face again
