Jessica & Sean

[dropcap color=”rosy”]R[/dropcap]omance need not be expensive… Romance need not be overwhelming… Romance is personal, passionate, and precious. I believe my experience proves this to be true.

My boyfriend Sean and I were sharing a wonderful holiday together in the Kruger Park. After a long day of game viewing under the heat of the African sun we made our way to our chalet at Lower Sabie camp. Our chalet was placed right on the riverbed and we had a stunning view of the river and wildlife. Sean poured us each a gin and tonic (a family

tradition) and we sat on a bench right in front of the river as the sun started to set. The golden haze of the African sky illuminating our surroundings. I was struck by the beauty of this incredible country. Next thing I knew Sean was on his knee and looking up at me with a beautiful shimmer of diamonds staring up at me. He asked me if I would like to be his wife and I could see he was nervous. I was so wrapped up in the moment I forgot I had to give a response. “Yes, Yes, of course” I finally managed.

The extreme simplicity and beauty of the moment under the African sunset will last a lifetime. It was the perfect ending to a difficult year, having lost my father earlier in the year to cancer. Sean had carefully chosen this venue to propose. Incorporated my dad into his proposal as the Kruger Park is a special place for my family and one we had created many wonderful memories throughout my childhood.

Although I could not share the news of my engagement with my dad I could feel his presence there and as I looked up at the now dark sky filled with stars I knew I was the luckiest girl alive to have such a compassionate partner.

I hope you can feel the moment that I experienced and see how romance is a personal experience and how a perfect partner will be able to make even a difficult situation into a beautiful one.
