Loren & Garth[dropcap color=”rosy”]W[/dropcap]ell before I tell you our story I must give you a bit of background to the weekend. Garth, my now fiancé had been working really hard and wasn’t able to take time off to go away during the July school holidays (I’m a teacher so I had three whole weeks of holiday). Each morning he woke up, ready and rearing to go to work, watching me sleep. He was a little jealous to say the least and he was so deserving of the rest himself. So, after one really crazy week he said to me, its enough, he needs a break and booked us into the Arabella in Kleinmond.
I thought nothing of it because he was just so finished and he didn’t give any clues away.
I managed to organise a massage for when we arrived as that was the only time they had available. Anytime is a good time for a massage…
And this is where it starts…
When I came back to the room I opened the door and there was a pathway of gorgeous petals and at each “pit stop” there was a heart card, hand cut with hand written messages. Along . . Next to each card was a short glass filled with water and a floating candle and then a long stem red rose… There were seven of these cards.
So, the first one said “Day 1 – we meet coincidentally at Manos, I take your number down incorrectly”, the second card said ‘ Day 3 – We meet coincidentally at Decodance:)..you steal my lighter :(, the third Day 5 – We go on a lunch date, that night, our first kiss, the fourth Day 7 – On your way back to Jhb I ask you to give us a chance. The fifth ‘Day 14: You back in Cape Town, if only for a couple days. The sixth – ‘Day 226: You come live with me in Cape Town 🙂 and then I opened the double sliding doors to the bedroom, he was down on his knee with ring in finger and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.. I think he knew the answer when the seventh and the final card said – “day 459 – you say yes” – and I did indeed. I dived onto him and I felt like I was floating on the clouds.
There was champagne waiting. And he also had a heart shaped design in petals in the bathroom and around the bath.
This man makes everyday a dream. I never thought I could love the way I love him. There is so much love and respect and most importantly laughs between us and I couldn’t be happier.
