Lou-Ann & Mark[dropcap color=”rosy”]M[/dropcap]ark & LA, met many moons ago at a mutual friends’ 21st birthday. Two typical Cape Townians – they loved their city, appreciated a good glass of wine and cherished their loved ones. Fast forward seven years, after their worlds criss-crossed several times over cities, counties and continents they were both back where it all started, their beloved Cape Town.
The happy couple started dating, and falling in love.
A year of much laughter and many a glass of wine later Mark started to plan the proposal. Mark brilliantly let LA into believing her extended business trip was purely to go and see dear friends in Amsterdam, and for him to visit Paris for the first time. Unsuspecting LA helped plan the trip, and when Mark suggested a couple of nights in the Champagne Valley she had no objections. The scene was set for the perfect proposal.
Several months later in Epernay, the heart of the Champagne Valley, the home of Champagne, the drink synonymous with celebrations, Mark and LA stepped into a boutique Champagne cellar. It was only the two of them, surrounded by hundreds of bottles of French champagne. Three tasting glasses of champagne were poured for each.
At the raise of the first glass Mark proposed a toast to their happiness, the second glass symbolized their laugher, and the third, a blend of the previous two Champagnes, and also a blend of happiness and laughter signified their love. With the third toast to their love, Mark went onto one knee and asked LA to marry her.
The two celebrated the night away with much Champagne, the drink synonym to celebration after all.
