Marne & Juan

[dropcap color=”rosy”]M[/dropcap]y fiance and I have been engaged just over a year now.

I start here with the story because being engaged for so long is due to us building a house together.

Juan and I met online. Did long-distance for a year and a half and have now been together for just under 6 years.

Beginning last year we decided that we wanted to buy a house together. After looking high and low, we had no luck and decided to go the plot and plan route.

End of last year on a Friday afternoon, I came home after work. After walking in the front door, I noticed flowers on the kitchen counter and sticky notes going all the way up the stairs (we stayed in a duplex). The sticky notes had all his top memories of our time together on them.

I then followed the stickies up the stairs which led me to his laptop waiting for me in the spare room. On the screen was another sticky telling me to take a seat.

As i touched the mouse, a powerpoint presentation started which had our song, some of our photos of our time together and just lots of specials words and messages about what I mean to him. The last slide told me to meet him at our plot cos he had a question to ask me.

Just to put it into context, at that point our plot was in the middle of like a field. There was no roads or anything there yet.

I went there and he was waiting there for me. As I got there he dropped down on his knee and asked me to marry him. He told me that he wanted to ask me at the place where we are starting our lives together.

Our house is finally done and we moved in a week ago. Now that our house is done, we will start planning the wedding.

Now when I’m at home and just spending time with him. I always think that this is the place where our lives began together.

Thanks for letting me share our story with you.

Hi. I’m the Carl from http://saweddingvenues.com/proposals-2013/justine-and-carl/
I know this is a competition, and that comments mean votes, but to me it is more than that.
This is about marriage and the people who take that step. You have chosen this path, and my wish is that your relationship may be blessed.
Congratulations on your engagement and all the best for the big day – and every day of your journey together.

I love this story – because it signifies the deeper commitment of building a life (house) together… I think this kind of relationship is the type that will stand the test of time. Congratulations to Marne and Juan! — LOVE your story.
