Monique & Nick[dropcap color=”rosy”]O[/dropcap]ur proposal was quite a funny story to tell. My fiance’, Nick, wanted it to be perfect and he wanted me to be able to tell a great story. I always wanted to get engaged on Table Mountain. So the one day we got all to ourselves(we have a 5 year old , so date days aren’t always possible) , it was the day of Linkin Park concert in Cape Town, ( I had no idea he was planning on proposing that day, wow was I surprised and very emotional) we decided to put in a day of leave just to explore our own city and make a day out of it. We ate breakfast at Spur, took the CitySightSeeing Bus and enjoyed a lovely sunny, yet very windy day.
We got to Table Mountain and it was very windy, the cable car was closed, then we got back to Waterfront, the Robben Island boat would have taken too long for us to get back and then we might be late for the concert, the big wheel was under construction. We went for lunch. Etc. Eventually we walked around and kept walking, me of course complaining that I don’t want to walk further in the wind, eventually we got to the One and Only Hotel, where we stopped and he went down on his knee, I didn’t expect it at all! He said that he really wanted to do it up there (Pointing to Table Mountain) and then asked me if I would marry him and be his wife. I burst into tears and of course said yes. We immediately informed our families and friends, and of course posted on Facebook – haha, we all know, its not official until it is on Facebook hehe. He explained to me how badly he wanted the other plans to work out, but everything just seemed to go wrong. He was very nervous. But yet, even though we couldn’t go up the mountain, couldn’t do the boat trip to Robben Island and couldnt go on the Big Wheel, I still love telling our story.
