Shannon & Ed[dropcap color=”rosy”]M[/dropcap]y fiancé and I had been dating for just over 5 years. We both met when we were young, I was 21.
We have been speaking about getting married for quite some time and we looked at a ring a year ago. It was my fiancé’s 28th Birthday on the 28th October and I had arranged a weekend away for us and our closest friends and family at a stunning villa – which my boss owns. On the way to the villa my fiancé was racing – I had to ask him to slow down 3 times and got quite upset with him. I kept on telling him that it’s not necessary for him to be driving so fast. He kept on insisting that he wanted to get there before our friends came as he wanted to spend some time with me. (He had been travelling on business quite often and had just came back from a business trip). We got the villa and the weather was perfect. He opened up a bottle of champagne and said that we should have a glass of champagne on the deck and walk around the villa to see what all the rooms look like etc. once we were on the deck, the sun had just started setting. He took my glass out of my hand and stared into my eyes. He told me that he loved me with all his heart and that he wants me to be the mother of his children and that he wants to spend the rest of his life with me. He went down on one knee and took out the ring that we had looked at a year ago. He then asked if I would do him the greatest honour of being his wife. We were both shaking so much that we ended up laughing while trying to get the ring on J. About half an hour later, our close friends and family arrived. Needles to say, we had the best weekend. I could NOT stop smiling!! We had the opportunity to share this special occasion with our closest friends. He had gone to visit my dad on the Friday and had asked his permission, he then phoned my mom as well. (my parents are divorced) He said that he would not propose if it wasn’t perfect – that’s why he was racing, he was petrified that some of our friends were going to show up early and he was going to miss his opportunity. Today, we are both as happy as can be and we are SO excited to start planning for the rest of our lives J
