Samantha and Terence

My now fiance’, Terence and myself had planned an awesome holiday overseas as his folks live over in Wells, Somerset in England and I’d never left the African continent before so was very excited to explore new territory.

As we were going to visit his folks in England, we decided to start our holiday in Paris, France and then move on to England. We arrived in Paris on Sunday, the 15th December 2013 which happened to also be our 2 year of dating anniversary. We arrived at 6am and looked forward to a whole day of visiting all the tourist attractions in the beautiful city of Paris.

I’ve always considered this as the city of LOVE and often imagined how romantic it would be to get engaged in this amazing city.

I didn’t expect to get engaged on our holiday, but often thought of the idea and how wonderful it would be.

We went up the Eiffel Tower which was very busy and then headed to the Arc de Trioumph which we also went to the top of. I stepped onto a little ridge with a birds eye view of all the tourist attractions around Paris and as I turned around to call Terence, he was down on one knee holding the ring in his hand. I didn’t know what to say at that moment, let alone even think to take photos of this romantic occasion. He asked “Boschy (his nickname for me), will you please make me the happiest man alive and marry me?”. I was in shock and couldn’t stop smiling at him and admiring my beautiful ring. When he put the ring on my finger, the crowd started cheering. What an amazing time this was and one never to be forgotten.

On our walk back to our hotel that evening, we noticed the tribute to Nelson Mandela on the Eiffel Tower. It was absolutely beautiful and we felt honoured to be able to share the beauty of his name lit up on the tower. I have also attached a photo of my stunning ring in front of the lit up Eiffel Tower.
