Rocktail Bay Lodge is situated in the northern reaches of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a World Heritage Site. It lies secluded within the coastal forest just behind forested dunes, beyond which is the warm Indian Ocean and one of the most unspoilt, pristine beaches in all of South Africa.
Accommodation is in 11 wooden tree- house chalets, which are raised on stilts into the forest canopy. Each twin-bedded room has its own private deck, en-suite bathroom and outdoor shower, for those who wish to bathe surrounded by trees. The main area of the lodge has an inviting lounge and meals are enjoyed either in the separate dining room, at the poolside or under a giant Natal Mahogany tree or even on the beach.
Activities include scuba diving, snorkelling, saltwater flyfishing, swimming, birding, walks and drives in the area, and visits to the surrounding community. During the summer months Rocktail Bay Lodge is integrally involved in ongoing turtle research and guests can accompany turtle monitors on nightly research drives to monitor the turtles’ nesting numbers and behaviour. The sight of a 750kg Leatherback turtle heaving herself up the beach to lay her eggs is an awe-inspiring, once-in-a-lifetime spectacle.
A trip to Rocktail Bay for your Honeymoon will truly be a life changing experience.
