About Us

Rosemary Hill is situated on beautiful farmland just 10 minutes from Pretoria East (45 minutes from Sandton & OR Tambo).  Our tea garden is open every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday from 09h00 to 14h00 where we serve delicious breakfasts, freshly baked scones, cakes and light meals. We also specialise in Morning/ Afternoon Tea and authentic farm weddings.

We have been practicing organic farming here since 1978, and during this time have planted over 30,000 trees. We currently grow African Potato, Sutherlandia, Rosemary, Lavender, Artemisia, Lippia, Spearmint, Eucalyptus and various other plants from which we distill essential oils. Other crops include pecan nuts and vegetables. Our nursery sells a variety of shrubs, herbs, flowers and trees. Rosemary Hill is a family-run business and the farm and school was started by Huibert and Annelie Franken in 1975. Thomas and Theresa Franken is now the second generation taking the farm and the school into the future…

Rosemary Hill is one of the very few establishments in Gauteng that offers an authentic Morning or Afternoon Tea (or High Tea) experience. Rather than offering a buffet and expecting guests to help themselves, our High Tea treats are freshly prepared for your enjoyment and presented on elevated tiers with beautiful freshly picked herbs and flowers from our gardens.

The latest addition to the farm  is a fun and safe mountain bike trail for runners and cyclists. It takes riders and runners on a scenic route across the farm. We offer secure parking, toilet facilities and a tea garden with food and refreshments for after the run/ride.

Your Wedding

Our experienced team will tailor-make a unique farm wedding experience for clients who want something different.  Our farm weddings are one of a kind. We are able to customize your wedding and provide a truly memorable service without breaking the bank (even if you have 200 or more guests). Our meals are delicious as everything is freshly prepared. We are able to assist with photographers, florists, musicians (for live music) – contact us to find out more about how we can help to make your special day unforgettable.

From an indoor or outdoor ceremony to various reception options, we are able to provide facilities for wedding parties ranging from 50 to 250 guests. Our prices are very competitive, and we do not charge excessive fees for those small add-ons that should be provided regardless.

We have an intimate restaurant which can accommodate 60 guests, or an authentic wooden barn that can accommodate 100 guests, and the large packhouse which comfortably houses in excess of 200 guests.

Another exciting project is our new maze. The maze is 80m in diameter and is made up of 2154 trees, herbs and shrubs! Our aim is for it to be a “multi-purpose” maze: Firstly a beautiful garden and then also a venue for open-air concerts, weddings and tea parties.
