Safari at The Stanley and Livingstone - Victoria Falls
In association with Shearwater Adventures, we offer a range of safari activities on our reserve, including day and night game drives, bush dinners, a walking safari with lions and educational elephant-back safaris.
On morning and evening game drives, your guides will educate you about the many mammals, birds, trees and plant life to be found in the Victoria Falls Private Game Reserve. Open four-wheel drive vehicles will take you on a safari along the shores of a scenic lake and through basalt plains into teak forests. On evening safaris, your drive will culminate in a sumptuous bush dinner under the stars. Alternatively, you may choose to do a walking safari following ancient wildlife trails on foot.
An Elephant Back Safari is an experience you will never forget. After being introduced to your elephant carer, you mount your elephant for a meander through the bush, viewing game from a wonderfully elevated vantage point. Your safari ends with interaction time with your elephant, followed by breakfast, lunch or snacks. All the elephants are rescued orphans from necessary culling operations in Zimbabwe in 1988. Although it is extremely difficult to train African elephants, by using a positive reward system these elephants have been lovingly and patiently trained to a high degree.
Walking with Lions is a thrilling encounter that may prove a highlight of your Victoria Falls experience. During your lion encounter, the pride strolls freely through the bush and, after an initial safety briefing, you are free to walk with them, watching them interact, play, or even stalk prey species that they encounter. On both lion and elephant safaris, there are opportunities to take close-up photographs of interactions with these magnificent animals.
Adventures at The Stanley and Livingstone at Victoria Falls
Since its beginnings in 1982, Shearwater Adventures has led the way in developing the Victoria Falls adventure experience. Today at Victoria Falls, you can experience the most complete array of adrenalin-pumping adventures you will find in Africa, from white-water rafting, power boating or river boarding on the mighty Zambezi rapids, to bungi jumping in the Victoria Falls canyon or boarding a helicopter, ultralight plane or float plane to view the falls by air.
Below the Falls activities comprise what is regarded by many as the world's greatest white water adventure, rafting down the Zambezi River, enjoying the exhilaration and thrills of some of the biggest rapids in the world. Alternatively you can choose to river board or ride a high-speed jet boat to experience the unique features of the mighty Zambezi gorge.
Above the Falls activities are more gentle with many guests choosing to cruise peacefully on the River Safari boat, exploring the islands and channels on the upper Zambezi River. The more adventurous can take part in a half-day, full-day or two-day canoe safari whilst, for the romantic at heart, the Sundowner cruise on the Zambezi offers spectacular sunset vistas.
Over the Falls activities include the legendary helicopter "Flight of Angels" offering spectacular views of the Falls. Alternatively you can take off in an open cockpit Ultralight for unparalleled viewing by air. Shearwater also offers the only Float Plane operating in Victoria Falls, which provides a unique experience taking off and landing on the Zambezi.
In Front of the Falls activities are for adrenalin-lovers and include the famous Victoria Falls Bungi Jump, designed to seriously test your nerves as you plummet 111 metres from the Victoria Falls bridge towards the Zambezi River.
