About Us
Tuningi Safari Lodge is part of the Madikwe Collection. We are a 5 star luxury lodge situated in the Madikwe Game Reserve which is a big five reserve and also malaria free. Unlike almost all state-owned game reserves in Africa, the approach towards conservation that has been adopted at Madikwe puts the needs of people before that of wildlife and conservation. It is believed by the Board that if conservation is to succeed in developing countries such as South Africa, then local communities and individuals must benefit significantly from wildlife conservation and related activities. If local communities and the region as a whole can benefit through jobs and business opportunities that are created or generated, then firm support for protected areas will be achieved and important conservation objectives will be met almost as a secondary or spin-off benefit. People-based wildlife conservation, is particularly relevant in rural areas where development options are often very limited. In this respect, it is believed that people-based conservation offers the only long-term successful approach to wildlife conservation in South and southern Africa, and the continent of Africa as a whole.

		Your Wedding at Tuningi
		We can cater for just the two of you or for up to 16 of your family and friends. Let our friendly staff organise your special day while you relax and enjoy the company of the people who are sharing this day with you. You can have your ceremony on the boma deck overlooking the waterhole where you may even have an elephant or two as witnesses to your union. You could also have your ceremony at the pool deck outside the main lodge guest area, or if there are just the two of you, we have a very private pool deck and boma with wonderful views over the hills. For your reception or wedding banquet, choose the boma areas, especially at night when we decorate them with lanterns and fires. The main lodge guest area is a beautiful open room leading onto the pool deck where we can set up for your reception.

		Accommodation
		The 5 star Tuningi Safari Lodge set in a valley on the western side of the Madikwe Game Reserve. The theme of the interiors is “Colonial African Chic” and the main thatched lodge offers beautiful indoor and outdoor lounges, and elegant dining room and a magnificent rim flow pool that over looks a waterhole. This is all interlinked by a sweeping wooden deck that leads to a boma under an ancient fig tree. Perfect for dinners around a blazing log fire. Our magnificent  thatched suites are linked by the way of wooden walkways to the main guest area. Each suite is beautifully decorated eac with a private verandah. Our stunning bathrooms have a double bath, twin basins and an outdoor shower with hot water. Each suite has a fireplace for those chilly winter evenings as well as fans and aircon for summer days and evenings. Our chef is professional and prepares delicious gourmet meals. You can rest assured that your wedding at Tuningi would be a very special, intimate occasion not only with gorgeous food, but the memories of our Lodge will be with you for always.
