Your Wedding in Cape Town

Cape Town just won Tripadvisor’s best city award and for good reason this is why to have your wedding in Cape Town! It is, in my opinion, the best city in the world, but then I am a bit biassed!  We really do have it all; from spectacular scenery, breathtaking beaches, beautiful mountains, nature reserves, the best restaurants in the country and a laid back lifestyle. So there is no question about why to have your wedding in Cape Town, the question rather is when.

Trust me when I say you will not have a hard time getting your friends and family to attend your wedding in Cape Town. Cape Town is located on the Southern Tip of South Africa. It is easy to get to from around the world and flights within South Africa are relatively cheap. Getting to and from Cape Town International Airport has also become easy thanks to the new bus service that takes you right to the centre of town. The city of Cape Town is multifaceted. You can find grand wedding venues in the City Bowl like the Mount Nelson Hotel, breathtaking beach wedding venues in Camps Bay, like the historic Round House or smaller more intimate wedding venues in the suburbs, like Serenity on the Lake. Cape Town also boasts being one of the only large cities in the world to have to have vineyards. So you need not travel out of Cape Town if you are looking to have a wineland wedding. We feature beautiful wedding venues in Constantia and Durbanville.

The Best Time of Year for your Wedding in Cape Town

Cape Town has a fantastic climate. Cape Town is often said to have a Mediterranean climate – in summer the days are long and warm getting a bit cooler in the evenings, which brings cool relief. November and December can be a bit of a gamble for outdoor weddings in Cape Town as you will find average temperatures will be lower than in the later summer months. When clients ask I always recommend your wedding in Cape Town any time between January until March when the weather is just balmy and perfect. The winds die down, the temperatures rise, evenings are warm and all the tourists have left the city. One great thing about your wedding in Cape Town in summer is that you do not have to worry about rain ruining your day as Cape Town has a winter rainfall. If you fancy a winter wedding then Cape Town is a great option too. Not only are venues generally cheaper in the winter months but Cape Town has a special ambience during winter that radiates through the city. Plan your winter wedding at a cozy wedding venue sheltered from the rain.

Decide what type of wedding you would like?

Cape Town has a multitude of wedding venue options. Do you want to get married on the beach, in a vineyard or in a grand hotel – the option is yours. Then see which venues meet your requirements. Go around and see the venue, meet the staff and see if you could imagine yourself getting married at the venue. Ask the right questions. And then book. Cape Town is by far the most popular city in the country to tie the knot in, so booking in advance is important. Lastly make sure that the wedding venue you book has an attractive plan B incase the weather changes as Cape Town is famous for having four seasons in one day.
