Collisheen Estate Wedding Venue – Take a step back in time into the land of the pioneers of early Natal and experience the peace and tranquility offered on an original sugar estate. The estate was established nearly a century ago by it\’s founders Douglas Liege and Zillah Hulett. After a trip to Ireland they decided to name the estate “Collisheen” in memory of a town they had visited and enjoyed. Through the years they ran Collisheen Estate as a cattle farm, dairy, timber plantation and of course a sugar estate. The next generation, Neil and Morag Hulett, who took over the farming operation after Douglas’ untimely death, set and broke numerous world records in their quest to successfully breed and raise the previously very endangered cheetah in captivity.
Set amongst magnificent old trees Collisheen Estate offers a private function facility that is exclusively yours for your special day. Panoramic views of undulating sugar fields are complemented by the warm “family” hospitality of the staff at the estate. Thirty minutes from central Durban and an arms length from Ballito, Collisheen Estate offers a perfect venue for conferences, meetings and corporate training.
About Collisheen Estate Weddings
Collisheen offers the perfect venue for weddings, conferences, meetings and corporate training. Our chapel, complete with private garden, our extensive functions room, bridal salon and outdoor arena with water feature and landscaped gardens, make for breathtaking photographs and an elegant and stylish wedding or function.
The Boma, our larger venue, is a 400 square meter open-sided building which can accommodate up to 400 guests with a dance floor and a stage area and is set in beautiful gardens which, at night, are transformed into a fairyland with lights in the trees and bridge. A private chapel, water feature and dark wood poles, with the tiled roof structure, are surrounded by seemingly endless space.
Our second venue option is the most wonderful setting for a charming and more intimate wedding, complete with a newly built chapel that finishes the white colonial theme of the venue beautifully. Orchid House is also the ultimate venue for birthday and cocktail parties as well as corporate functions and team building events, as the venue boasts an extensive 100-year-old garden that is ideal for team building activities.
Collisheen Estate is the idyllic setting for weddings and functions both big and small and we ensure that any event that is held at the estate will be peaceful, private, professional and perfect.
Collisheen Estate Accommodation
We have converted Douglas Liege & Zillah Hulett’s original homestead into three self-catering rooms, all en-suite. Loads of space and high ceilings are characteristic of homes built in the early 1900’s and Collisheen is no different. As you would expect, an almost 100-year-old garden is filled with massive trees, sky scraping palm trees, a variety of orchids and a huge amount of birdlife. It’s a beautiful sight to behold! Besides relaxing on the verandah, other activities on the Estate include the obvious bird watching, a network of mountain biking trails and a microlight airfield – offering daily flips over the Ballito area. These are all not-to-be-missed activities, and are sure to keep you coming back for more.
Only five minutes from Ballito, our accommodation is just around the corner from the beach, four golf courses and plenty of restaurants and entertainment facilities. There’s absolutely no reason to be bored at Collisheen, with the abundance of activities and entertainment available. Cosy up in style and comfort!
